2008 Beijing Olympic Mascots
The mascots for this year’s Olympic games are called Fuwa, or “good luck dolls”. The mascots are cartoon renditions of a panda, a fish, a Tibetan antelope, a bird and the Olympic flame. They are named Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, and Nini.
Beibei is the fish representing the element water
Jingjing is the panda representing the forest
Huanhuan the Olympic flame represents the element fire
Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope representing the earth
Nini is the bird/swallow representing air
When their names are put together – Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni – they say “Welcome to Beijing”.
