Wimbledon – It’s About Time

When it comes to tennis, I can name many more women tennis stars than men, but it seems that until this year, the prize purse for men has been larger than that for the women. As a matter of fact, The All England Club has been paying its women champions less for 123 years. Hell-o?

How much more you ask? Last year, men’s champion Roger Federer received $1.170 million and women’s winner Amelie Mauresmo got $1.117 million. I’m not sure how The All England Club got away with this all these years.

Anyhow, I am glad to see that the playing field has finally be leveled and the women who work and train as hard as their male counterparts will be compensated equally!!!
