US Gymnasts Sloan and Bross Take Gold and Silver at Worlds
The US women just scored another 1-2 punch – this time at the World Championships in London. Bridget Sloan, who was a member of the 2008 US Olympic team, took the All Around title and her teammate, Rebecca Bross took silver. Koko Tsurimi of Japan won bronze.
From Universal Sports:
With Valeri Liukin watching and pacing, Sloan performed a gorgeous floor routine. She had great height on her tumbling passes and landed all of them as if she were coming down in a vat of superglue. But what really set her apart was her artistry. Gymnastics officials have changed the rules since Beijing, limiting the number of tumbling runs in hopes of making the event more elegant.
Congratulations to all the gymnasts. The event finals will be held on Saturday and Sunday where we will see all four US team members compete again. Bridget Sloan qualified for finals on Bars, Rebecca Bross qualified on Bars and Floor, Kayla Williams is the leader going into the Vault final, and Ivana Hong will be in the Balance Beam final.
