Olympic Gymnast Alicia Sacramone Set To Make Comeback This Weekend
Olympic gymnast, Alicia Sacramone, who is now 22, will be making her comeback performance this weekend in the USA Gymnastics Cover Girl Classic competition in Chicago, IL. Alicia will be using this competition as a qualifier to next month’s National Championships. She will be competing along side Olympic teammate Bridget Sloan, Rebecca Bross, Kayla Williams, and others (click for complete list of Jr. and Sr. competitors).
As to why Alicia is making her comeback to competition now, she is quoted as saying:
“I didn’t have the performance of a lifetime at the Olympics, and I know I’m a better competitor than that,” Sacramone said. “I want to show everybody the true athlete I am so I can finish my career on a better note.”
Personally, I am cheering for Alicia and really do hope she has a good meet this weekend and qualifies to nationals. And I am really looking forward to seeing her sky high vaults again (and I am sure US Team Coordinator, Marta Karolyi is too!)
