The Women’s 50m Freestyle - aptly named the “splash and dash” just took place and even though Dara Torres took the silver, she sincerely looked like she was happy with her swim. Britta Steffen of Germany won gold, Torres got silver, and Cate Campbell of Australia took bronze.
I have been so impressed with Dara’s attitude and sportsmanship before her races - like yesterday when she alerted the officials that a fellow competitor had an issue with her suit. Even after the swim tonight, she immediately congratulated the winner and genuinely seemed happy to do it.

The Walt Disney Co., Edge Marketing and the Arena Network have got a post-Olympics gymnastics broadcast and tour scheduled that will stop in 36 cities nationwide kicking off with Reno, NV on September 7. Based on the amazing performances of the US team so far in Beijing, I am pretty certain the tour is going to be a huge success - especially by pairing it up with performances by Disney artists and music from the Disney Girlz Rock, Vol. 2 soundtrack.
From the official GymnasticsSuperstars.com site:
You heard right… Shawn Johnson, Nastia Luikin, Chellsie Memmel, Shannon Miller, and Paul Hamm will all be knocking your socks off to some of the hottest music from Disney Records!
This isn’t any old gymnastics tour! This is a totally new way to see the greatest sport of the Summer Olympics! This is a high energy, no-holds-barred Gymnastics Palooza!
A full schedule of dates and cities is available at the Verizon Center site. You can still get great tickets on StubHub.com!

The epitome of world class gymnastics, Nastia Liukin, has been crowned the 2008 Olympic Gymnastics All Around Champion! Her performances tonight were gorgeous, artistic, precise and oh, so confident.
I was so glad to see Nastia put together the best routines I have ever seen her do tonight - when it counted most. Looking at all the fantastic athletes she competed against - Shawn Johnson, Yilin Yang, Anna Pavlova, Ksenia Semenova, Steliana Nistor, and others - is was crystal clear that Nastia Liukin was in a LEAGUE OF HER OWN.
Stunning, just stunning!
